The warning message could very well be the confused computer in the trans being a car of only 40km. But in saying that ford fiesta, focus, Mondeos and euro ford budget cars alike have notoriously bad transmissions that go off like grenades as little as 120,000kms. Once the warranty runs out I'd consider getting a Japanese car.

Recall, Ford has had several lawsuits for the 2012-16 Focus & 2011-16 Fiesta with the dual-clutch "Powershift" (DPS6) transmissions where Ford was actually buying back the cars (www.fordtransmissionsettlement.com & www.fordpowershiftlawsuit.com). It was completely dead today so I switched it out and immediately got a transmission warning. Little wrench light and the CEL. First you need to get a new battery. I guessing that the transmission isn't getting enough power from the dead battery at some point and sends a fault. I also guessing the transmission has a limp home mode, which will cause the bad shifting. Unlikely that the battery and transmission would fail at the same time. But it is a Fiesta.
